What a great find! I have no idea what it is, but I hope you find out and let us know. I'm with Jeff, my first thought was some kind of gun powder or shot container. Good luck on finding out.

I thought it was a shoulder insignia at first for some uniform but then I saw the underside and I think this was a decor that would be attached to a saddle . JMTC. HH

I'm no expert, But, I was raised around alot of Horse Tack growing up, Kind of look's like sommething off a Bridle, I've also seen that type of silver work done before on some pretty old chinese ornament's, Kind of resemble's fish scales and the top round part look's like a Jellyfish? What ever it end's up being, I'm sure it's valuable, wonder if there was another one to match? Really Cool find.
I'd look some more.....Good Luck!!!!

Hi Mojjax. It looks like a peice of armer that would protect your shoulder and part of the upper arm. The round part of it would be on your shoulder. Matt

I have no clue myself, but my equestrian expert wife seems to agree that with the saddle theory, possibly something worn on the horses chest for show. Excellent find!!

It really is made of an armadillo tail! No kiddin'! Honest! Have I cried wolf once too often? In Texas , NM, OK where armadillos are plentiful they do make decorative items out of them. Next time you see one, grab him by the tail and take a look. They don't bite! My guess is that it is or once was a key chain fob as I have seen a few of them. JIM Honest! If I'm lyin' I'm dyin'! True! Believe me! Would I lie to you?

True nuff, Maine has their lobster, Louisana has their crawdads, and Oklahoma-we have our possum on the half shell. Yum, yum but a little greasy and sometimes they slide right off the plate. Have we ever lied to you? ;)
