Having looked at it again, the last pic resembles a ball and socket joint. Nature is great at mimicking itself, once again, great pics and keep them coming

You should see some of the furniture you can make from some lumber from those trees.

True, but these are on National Forest land. :'(
I cut trees with vines growing around them on private land to make 'hiking sticks' & lamps & furniture later on.

Very interesting find. I think the right angle tree limbs was the indians way of marking a trail. Look around on rocks in the area for other signs.

Cool anyway!

Thanks, these trees would be 'way too young' for Indian sign markers.
Our temp's were in the 70's yesterday, but cooler weather on the way.

Most (all?) of these trees appear to be oak varieties. The fifth photo is the most interesting to me. The "W" seems to be trying to say something here. Have you checked the depression in the background on the side of the creek yet? I would. I don't think nature shaped this one: it had help.

Number three & four are pine trees, we have ice storms that break the tree down, then if it heals, they always try & grow 'upward', that & thunder storms & tornadoes can also bend & break the trees.
But anything is possible. :dontknow:
