Strange object

Found this strange object on the Yorkshire dales. It's made from what I think is aluminium, have no idea what it could be. Possibly something that's fallen off farm machinery, or something more interesting?? It's clearly been there a long time due to the corrosion,

Any help greatly appreciated

That's what we presumed, any thoughts on its age with all the holes that are appearing on the surface? It was found in Dentdale
