Strange find Today...

okay today I was hunting where I usually go looking for 1800's relics...
This afternoon I turned up an old horshoe, and about to leave the forest I decided to scan this one last area and I got a strong signal from under a bush...

so I cleared away the leaves and some logs and branches, began to dig and I heard and felt something hard and hollow... I kept digging and cleared off the surface of the object. I then realized it wasnt metal... hard grey plastic, I then stuck my shovel underneath the object, proped it out of its hole and said to myself OH MY GOD!! WTF?!?!

It was a moulded plastic briefcase, I grabbed the handle pulled it out of the hole and seen an antenae sticking out of it and the word US GOVERNMENT engraved in the side, then said OMFG WTF?!?! what is this doing on Canadian land?!?!

Don't worry, I then burried it how I found it... still very odd to find something like that in a canadian forest. Anyone know what it could be for? it was quite heavy.

the way I would look at it is, IF there are no Warnings on it about it being a Crime to open it, I would be VERY
tempted to open it & see.

Any inactive volcanos nearby? It could be a tremor warning device.
Or a sizmagraph sensor for earth quakes. Or maybe just a Geo cache. HH

How close to the US border did you find this item?

i would rig it to be opened from a distance should it go boom.....might say usgov on it but it seems lost or abandoned property to me....after making sure there are no valuable collectibles or such that might have by accident gotten into the case that need removing, i would report it to canadian gvt officials as everyone knows how nosy uncle sams kids are, and your govt might be very interested in it, and depending on how interested they might be, you might even see some sort of reward for its recovery.........gldhntr

I would THINK IF it's a Federal offence, it would be posted on the outside.

i would think that if they were in the least worried about it they would have it....leaving things just buried around only invites the likes of us, and we all know how we are...............i'm with the poster above, and would have found out every little thing about it by now, have it buried under the firewood pile with the batteries in the dash of my truck..who knows, possibly maxwell smart's or even old roger moore's personal anti crowd super personell disposal unit and anti gravitational missle launcher or something...........if nothing else dig it back up, sell it on the bay,,,,,,,i'm sure the right person/government would have an interest.......gldhntr

Today I noticed there was a wire comming from the case, so I traced it about 5ft and pulled it up and there was that red sensor...

it was Hard for me to Decipher the site,

MY Computer didn't like it, or Visa-Virsa.

But it looked to me like it was either a Tracker

or signal relay.

after reading the website for the unit I am now wondering about your proximity to the US border..unit is a seismec sensor and apparently can detect perosnnel or vehicular movement...is your area some place close to possible drug smuggle traffic??

Yes I have the feeling it is to detect illegal border crossing at night, all one would need is a canoe to cross

Makes ya wonder just what all else is out there...
I think someone on the forum was asking about a device that would detect a vehickle awhile back...
It looks like that would definitely do it...
