Re: Strange find from the "shed"

Thats a lotta work to build that thing to crush a can - IMO.

That top part is "cupped" maybe it was used to compress springs or something... ???

Might be a handmade bullet maker for putting shotgun shells together. It kinda looks like something my uncle use to have when I was kid. Not sure though.

I agree. Too many springs and adjustments just to crush cans. I had a can crusher and it was very simple.

You got some interesting stuff in that shed mojjax! ;D

Re: Strange find from the "shed"

Kind of looks like a small version of a type of tire patch system called a vulcanized patch. This look small enough to do a garden tractor tire or go-cart tire.

it fits in side the tire and clamps down on the rubber patch, some were heated in place to bond.

I wonder if it's something for pressing ball joints in place.

It looks homeade. Is that a hammer handle? Looks almost like an Estwing. They are not that old. That type handle came out in 70's I think.

I've reloaded shotgun shells most of my adult life and I can't see how this would ever work for reloading. Monty

Re: Strange find from the "shed"

Its hard to tell the size and movement from the pics. If you loosen the set screws on shaft and slid it up some, is it possible to clamp an electric handdrill in it. homade drill press?

Re: Strange find from the "shed"

If it had a little more duct tape it could be a time machine! :D What does it do when you push the handle down? How far does the press thing move? Monty

Re: Strange find from the "shed"

homemade drill press for converting a hand drill to press drill? you can see the saddle on the top part to force the drill down, the hole in the bottom for the chuck, and the faucet knob would allow it toadjust higher or lower on the rod.
