Strange circular objects in SoCal desert Mountains??

Incidently, Stone Mountain (at Stone Mountain, GA) has prehistoric wooden huts at its base. There were first discovered after photos were taken from the mountain summit. The only thing that remained of the huts were "rings" of darker earth indicating where the wooden walls once stood. A quick research will get the info required to then find them. TTC

Any updates on this?
SUCCESS!!!! Google Earth has updated the area sat photos. A VERY good resolution pic is now beiing shown. The two "corrals" are now no doubt trees... probably conifer... but maybe broadleaf. The "structure" below the trees is now clearly a boulder. My measurement indicates the boulder to be about 7 meters across. No field attempt will be made by me. I would include the GE photo but I don't know how. Thanks. TTC
just out of curiosity did you check them out yourself, or did google just happen to update after you offered to go check them out?
(I know some time went by)
eddddit--just finished reading what i was quoting :laughing7: sorry guys...still looks like a good spot. is it under any restrictions?

No, C Cal, I did not do a ground look. Just Google. I try to look at Google maps often. I found the update after my first Suggestion. I am still open to a ground look but must first round up my trailer and one of the quads. Also, such an undertaking is not to be taken lightly. It is close to the Mex border, dry, and MUST be a "buddy" search. Like scuba diving, only a fool would do such a project alone. But yes, I would still be open to a ground look adventure. Also, my CA BLM map(s) shows the area should be open to hunt.TTC

UPDATE: I am still thinking of doing a ground search at this site (anomoly) but it is hot! Just went through Quartzsite, AZ yesterday by car. The local temp was 111 DEGREES! Ouch! I am sure "the site" will be just as brutal. TTC
Here is an update with pic (10-16-11). The "structure" below the trees is no doubt a large rock. The trees are probably conifers. After planting the RV back at Yarnell, I will do a ground search. TTC

The above pic is an update.... TTC

Hey guys, a thought occured to me: I did some historical research a year or so ago, on a little contact period (ie.: post-european influence, not pre-history stuff) indian village, in the deserts south of Bakersfield. We found the location, and had a fun time detecting it (got some seated coins, relics, etc....). And odd thing was, there was these circular stone foundations out there, where apparently they pitched their lean-toos on top of them (teepees? huts? or whatever they built). To this day, those circulat round indentations are visible out there on the desert floor, at the location we are at. So much so, that a few of them are even visible from satellite! They are perhaps as big around as a small living room of a standard house (ie.: 20-ish ft. diameter? I dunno).

I don't know whether or not these circular formations are unique to *just* this one site or not. And from looking at the gps coord's cited here, those do not look like the ones I'm referring to.

Nonetheless, I recalled those circular formations we studied, on satellite, out in the desert, in our research with led to our finding a site (when combined with what was already known from historical sitations, and was in no way just blindly wandering to random blobs on satellite photos)

Tom, Tnx for the response. But I am missing your point. The rock in the pic is about 7 meters across... and casts a very good shadow. It not only has length and width but also height. The two "circles" above have length and width and ALSO has height as shown by the shadow. My point is they are probably not corrals but more likely trees. I am very interested in what they are... to the point I will soon go out there for a ground search. Your point on the "teepee" circles needs more said.... that is, the ecosystem in the desert is VERY fragile. Marks, tire marks, diggings, etc will be there for many years after the people that made them are long gone. Everyone should be very careful of what they leave behind. Tnx TTC
