I found this item along with some other turn of the century relics. Any ideas? I initially thought it was a lid but it only has a formed over lip around it (no threads). Appears to be thin copper or brass (non-magnetic).

I will just guess.... May be a rosette piece with a wood back, or it could be one of those pieces you stick under furniture legs...

Thanks for the stab at it!

I should have taken a shot from the side....it is very thin copper/brass. Decorative seems to be the function for sure....but for what? The wood is also recessed into it like a glass liner on a mason jar lid....:icon_scratch:

It still could be a lid the type that clamp down with clips the glass has wire around it and the clips flip up to hold lid down.I am not computer literate but someone can probably find and post a pic of what I'm talking about Mason has a style similar.

My guess was the top to a humidor or tobacco holder.......something like this:

That 'might' explain the wood......why it is decorative.....and something that is loose fit.....
