I've had some luck on storage units, mostly good. You just can't be foolish bidding. Sometimes you get a nice surprise. I recently bought a 5x10 that had a nine drawer dresser, wheelchair, walker, 3 big storage containers and about 10 big plastic trash bags full of something. I thought to myself, old folks, maybe something good in here. Paid $70 for it. Dresser was empty, tubs & bags full of old lady clothes. Stuff sat in my garage a week, donated wheelchair and walker to local church & almost donated all the clothes to Goodwill. Glad I didn't. I got a day off from work and decided to go thru the pockets of all the clothes, perhaps some folding money in them. Reached into the pocket of what looked like her Sunday go to meeting jacket and pulled out a necklace that had a 2001 $10 Gold Eagle, 1/4 ounce fine gold! Necklace itself was plated junk, but the coin was in fine shape in a 14kt bezel. Almost broke my own rule of being sure to search everything in the locker. Ya never know, ya know?

My self i always thought they would open up the lockers and take out the good things ...... and leave the junk there.... And even thought it is against law for them to do it....... I would bet that some could be a lot do that..

I buy a few lockers every other month. Best finds, $4,350 in cash, Sterling Silver tea set (70 ounces and marked sterling 950), complete set of Waren commision report from Gov printing office in original boxes addressed to the state department (got $2100 on ebay). Most lockers are bust I have bought over 100 in the last 4 years. 3 outstanding ones about a dozen I made money on and the rest I lost on. Worst finds, 3 pounds of hamburger in a plasticc tube been in there 6 months, 100 pounds of rat crap and 2 dead rats in one locker, 20 mattresses in one locker. Before the unreality shows you could get lockers for under $100 often now it is really hard. I did get one in January for $30 that looking like it had been gone through. Found lot of ammo holsters, badges uniforms. Sold over $300 worth of ammo and got $144 out of a park rangers hat on ebay. best find this year. It is not easy money like the shows make it look it is hard dirty ugly work you better not mind getting dirty and having to touch filth. Expect to find porn in 90% of the lockers and drug paraphanalia in 50% of them. I enjoy the sorting it is certainly treasure hunting but it is not as easy as say garage saling where you deal with low volume and know what you are getting. They know me by name at the dump.

Here is a good find from last year, gold is marked 18K stone a aqua marine. Paid $250 for the locker it was in still have the ring and have all my money back and then some.
