Maybe the barrel was used as a Deadman or Anchor for something bigger.

I don't know, there are plenty of 100 pound field stones around here, maybe somebody just got tired of a collection or something. None of em are regular gravel road rocks. Look at this creepy one, it looks like a ******ed big beeked bird

Well look at that, the definition says quartzite is a type of rock. I thought quartzite was something completely different that is in some of these. I just learned two new things... All from questioning a one word answer.
