I found this one hundreds of miles south of the closest deposit of this material.

Would it be reasonable to find some in florida made from chert? Or what would be the stone of choice of the typical Floridian Celt one might find?

Gator is the man for this question. However, Gator and I traded a few items a while back and he sent me some chert he personally found in FL. The fact that chert is there makes me think celts of chert are there as well. They will be flaked celts, not polished. From what I gather through Gator and Tom, FL. Celts are predominantly queen Ann conch. Once in a while ol' man luck will make a drunken stumble into the eye of a lucky soul and a polished Celt will turn up in FL. Gator was a proud victim of ol' man luck!! FL. Has so much water, most any imported stone is a possible find. Water= travel/trade routes

Why thanks gator , I think it's crazy that we found a pestle the same spot we parked after the row through the tobacco lol
