I had a 2 week relic hunting trip scheduled for a couple of months, but for unseen obstacles it was narrowed down to 4 days. Two of the 4 days were spent with my good friend kuger where I found the iron stirrup. Thanks for the outings kuger and I'm looking forward to getting together with you again in the Spring! Another day was a bust with another friend but still had a great time!! The last day on my trip I hunted with another friend where I found the brass stirrup. It was a dandy find as well!! After returning home, I still had another day to hunt before going back to work and actually managed a few good coin finds!!! They were an 1858 half dime, 1862 IH, and 1842 dime!!!! Not to bad for a day in the snow!!!!! I threw in a pic. of the stirrups with a stirrup I found at a Colonial site in S. C. many years ago also.

Merry Christmas fellow TNET forumites!

Very nice - love the stirrups.

Awesome Finds! The old Indian and Seated coins are Great and I really like the stirrups! Way to go!

Nice iron, Ironman! :icon_thumright:

The brass, copper, and silver is quite alright as well.

Jog my memory if possible, on the site your early iron stirrup was dug at, and I'll venture an estimate on time period. Did that come from the development area, that produced Rev War finds, such as the British 3rd Foot Guards button?

Well, you know how my memory is anymore, but I think it was found where you found your nice "dog bone" button and I found the RW sling buckle?

Those are some good looking stirrups. The coins ain't bad either. Nice to see some die-hard diggers dealing with the elements to dig some early relics.

Thanks Bill! Yeah, sometimes you have to adapt, to be able to enjoy that passion we relic hunters share!!

Thanks again everyone for your replies & kudos!!
