I suppose you need a saltwater machine for out this far?,I was at the very least 1/4 mile out from the beach.I noticed I wasnt getting any "beeps" so I took off my ring and buried it about to where I know this machine will pick up, NOTHING!...I did get my ring back though..LOL

Well, I do know that as long as I dont touch the 'wet sand' with the coil, Im good to go.Dry sand its perfect.I dunno, weird...
I have found rings in fresh water(under the water), so I know it works under water like it is suppose to.
