Sterling What's it

I found this today. It's 2 1/2 inches long closed and 3 1/2 inches long opened. Is stamped 'sterling'. Has a hinge and what looks like a pin on the back side. Also on the narrow end, it is sharp and has a small upward bend. As I dug it out of the hole, I thought I had found the end of a spoon. :P :D

It sure looks a lot like a piece of cutlery rejuvenated as a possible tie clip, as Thom said.

The hinge construction looks very professional to this complete amateur.

I remember the DAV metal piece. It was a miniature licsense plate (#,s on other side)for a key chain. Postage guaranteed if dropped in any mailbox.

Very cool find....even if I don't know what it is....but because of its size,and the fact that it folds....it might have fit in a pocket.....I think something might have been attached to the pointed part at one time....something that deteriorated over time....like a brush or something....or that a small cloth was attached for cleaning something....

no clue what it is but it sure is a neat piece. I hope someone comes along that knows for sure what it is!

A hankie clip? Wrap the middle of the hankie around the sharp thingy, let it drape, then clip it on to a belt or blouse? Those ole ladies always had a hankie with 'em. Or a money clip, like WSD said. :icon_scratch:

WSD, zipper pulls had a length of cord on them to pull from the waistline to the shoulder/neck area. Gawd, that sounds like sooooo much trouble! We filly's went to a lot of trouble for you stallions! (I have absolutely NO idea of what one horse is from another!!!) :-* :-*
