Sterling silver water pitcher

Be still my heart. Please don't sell that for anything less than 3x melt. Melt shouldn't even be in the same sentence, actually, it's not applicable. ME NEXT ME NEXT!

Hi. I agree it’s your turn next. I hope you find something good!

Nope, definitely a wine ewer. If you look at the Georgian period ewers, many had the Grecian urn shape. You don't see that in any of the chocolatier pics.
So I understand you trust much of the information found on the internet. Yes I do see some similar pitchers labeled as a wine ewer along with other pitcher styles I do believe are a wine ewer. Sorry but I disagree. This to me was designed to hold a hot liquid, hence the non-metallic insulating handle.

That is absolutely freakin’ gorgeous!! The date letter is 1791 and king George III. Made in London and made by Henry Chawner. I am so jealous. Well done BK!

Beautiful find, congratulations! :occasion14:

So if I was going to sell this, put it on eBay? Or where do you all think the best place to go would be?

With that I would think under the antique silver category. What silver I've sold I always use the antique category and the bullion category also. I just like the scrap buyers to quickly bid it up and I believe all those bid numbers get more attention from the antique collectors. One thing though I've had a few disappointing results letting silver go to the highest bidder on eBay, so maybe it's best you come up with a good fixed price and sit on it and see what offers come.?

No idea how this will sell even as cool as it is. I picked up a nice repousse Scottish coffee/tea service from the 1800's a while back. There's a thread about it on here somewhere. Contacted several specialty silver dealers all of whom told me how nice it was, how much they'd like to have it....& how they had too many sets they couldn't sell. I ended up listing on eBay. Meanwhile the spot price of silver dropped a few bucks. In the end it sold and I netted about what I would have got if I'd shipped it to my refiner the first day I bought it.

If you're comfortable with doing so, PM me the link when you list it for sale. I really want to watch it. I think it's a captivating piece of silver.
