I have this cross I just bought in a lot of vintage jewelry items and I can't figure out what the stone in the middle is? The cross is marked Israel 925 NC or upside down CN obviously it's sterling silver but I can't for the life of me figure out what the other material for the stone is. It almost looks like a piece of copper. But why would they put a piece of copper in a sterling cross? I'm dumb founded any help or ideas would be awesome. Oh and the initials I mentioned are hand carved not stamped!

are you sure it isn't gold?

You might want to run it by a jeweler and have it tested

I have gold tester but I just don't want to ruin it if it's a precious stone etc.

I was wrong widows mites are bronze not copper.
If you say it looks copper maybe its not gold plated but looks gold in your pics.
