This is a 1 5/8" sterling thing of a cricket, or grasshopper, wearing a cap and shoes, standing next to a golf ball.

There's no mechanism for mounting. Nothing for turning it into jewelry. On the back is stamped sterling. Twice.

Anyone recognize the logo?

Anyone have a guess as to what it might have been for? With sterling stamped into the back, it wouldn't have been mounted onto something, like a plaque or award. Nothing to make it jewelry. It doesn't stand on its own.

So what is it, and why is it?

If it truly is golf related, could it be a ball marker? You know, the thing they put on the green to mark where there ball is supposed to be when they pick it up for others to play.

Seems there are a couple early Cricket Clubs that later added golfing to the group. Could be a club mascot for a club that had its roots in the game of Cricket.

That little guy really looks like he's out of a Dr. Seuss book... but I looked, and couldn't find such a character.
Love the platform shoes and bell bottoms.

Maybe Ben is correct and it's not a cricket at all. Maybe from that rare and little known Dr. Suess classic -

The Louse on the Links

Do you like to play?
Play golf on the grass?
Well it's so hard to play
With a bug up your...

(Sorry Ben) :laughing7:

Regardless of the theme of the image, what is it? We still cannot figure that out. I've got a long list of what it's not though.

Simply based on the size and that it is sterling, I think it is a lapel pin. Obviously, the pin is missing.

Are we making this too hard?

Maybe it is simply "The Golf Bug".
