I don't know if you can view this auction I won.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...p63UyJ8%3D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWNX:IT

but it says,

Coca-Cola Sterling Silver 9 piece set

Salt and Pepper Shakers with holder

Set of 4 Spreaders

Bottle Opener

Pizza Cutter

I couldn't find a silver piece like these, just chrome ones that look just like it. The seller has 132 100% good feedback. If the pieces are not sterling, what do I do? And does anyone have better google skills than me trying to find a silver one.

Thanks!~

First thing i'd do is print the entire ad from ebay as proof that he represented them as sterling.

Second thing i'd do is pay with paypal or a postal money order so if he misrepresents the item, you can either file a claim with paypal, or file with the post office for fraud.

Hello, all I could find was chrome plated ones. These links match your stuff.

I would consider contacting seller and asking if they are 100% sure these are sterling, and maybe ask for $ back if they haven't already shipped them, unless you still want them because they are a good deal?
Ebay will refund your money if the seller doesn't, but they require you to return item to seller at your own cost first(which would cost you more than you paid). They also will not reimburse for the shipping you paid seller for either. I think you made a good deal either way, but it really stinks that your seller (may have) represented them.

Hope this helps, 2Minnesota

I meant "MIS-represented them" oops!

If it isnt what was stated you have options. If you payed with PayPal you can file a claim with them. Judging by the sellers feedback it looks like it might be an honest mistake. If you like the set keep it but let the seller know what was wrong. Try not to leave negative feedback, alot of sellers are looking at feedback that you left for others and may block you if you leave bad feedback. If you do leave feedback consider neutral and be professional about it. You can get alot of help in the Ebay ansewr center located here, http://pages.ebay.com/community/answercenter/index.html . You can also get help in the discussion forums located here, http://forums.ebay.com/category/Ebay-Discussion-Boards/2001 .

I was with ya til you said honest mistake, They should know the difference between sterling an plated before throwing the term sterling around on a auction site.. I believe they did it on purpose to get a bite cause no one one have bid on it if they used the word plated an the shipping is way out of line for what is being shipped..

My guess is that it isn't sterling at all...but then again, we are talking about a $23 deal.

This is a $23 lesson that you should accept.

Pay the $23 bucks, leave positive feedback, and move on with life.

True, I have a problem, I give people the benefit of the doubt, I shouldnt always do that. Ebay has given alot of power to the buyer and very little to the seller. Being primarily a seller I kinda tend to lean that way. But the OP has every right to file a claim if it turns out to be not as described. I agree the shipping is a bit high on this and I woulda passed just based on that.

One more thing, Please contact the seller BEFORE filing a claim. They may be willing to work it out. If not then most certianly file.

If the item was marked somewhere "SS "he may in ignorance have taken that to mean sterling silver when in fact it would mean stainless steel. Mistakes do happen and if it is the case maybe a friendly invite to the garage sale forum would help educate him, I know it has me!!

Thanks for the info guys.

I will probably keep the set, it's nice for and got it for a good price way below retail. If it is not sterling I will notify the seller and see if he does anything. If not I'll probably through it in a box and keep it to give as a gift for someone.

I am very sure it isn't going to be sterling

Even after reading this thread and knowing to beware of non Silver items marked "Silver"...

I went and bought some foreign coins that I knew nothing about marked "silver coins". They turned out to be Copper-Nickel.
