Steel pennies

Feel free to post a picture of your find and others will give you their opinion. Without seeing it, the likely condition would not warrant an appraisal. With a steel planchet exposed to the elements, they are quick to corrode. Now, if the coin was properly stored over the years and had only recently been found, then it might warrant a numismatic premium if it is in mint state. If it has been circulated but still corrosion free, then it is worth only a slight premium.

1943 Steel pennies are very common... 1943 copper penny is worth a few grand and a 1944 steel penny is worth up to $100,000 ..

I found one and only one steel 1943 cent with a metal detector, but only because it was in the same hole with a 1941 mercury dime. It is in rough shape...but i still have it.

1943 steel pennies, even in un-dug good condition, are still not that numismatically valuable. It would have to be mint condition to be worth getting appraised.

Yep, what Tom said.

I'd love to find one in any condition. I could mark it off my md'ing bucket list.
