Steel 1920 Wheat Penny?

I’ve also just come across a shiny silver 1920 penny; however, mine IS magnetic. The shininess of the silver color makes me pretty certain it’s a paint of some kind, but what kind of paint would make it magnetic?

(the paint looks chipped, revealing the copper coin, but I scratched at the “chip” and it the copper color scratched off the silver) FD4AF9FE-F571-4410-A11D-D3C15658183B.jpeg

This one's easy. It was nickel plated at some time in the past.

yep, we used to do that when the science teacher left the room. Amazing how we all handled and played with mercury back then. It would make a copper penny bright silver color. But I don't remember how long the silver color lasted bouncing around in our jeans pockets with marbles and fireballs.
