Start of the Summer finds

Even though Summer has not officially started it really feels like Summer. It hasnā€™t really been that hot but the sunny weather with lack of rain has made it feel that way.

Since itā€™s so dry around here I have abandon the private homes and done more woods stuff. I havenā€™t got out as much as I usually do but have made about 4 to 6 outings in the last couple weeks. A hunt or two at my moms, the Berg, a early 1800ā€™s mill site and a middle school.

The early 1800ā€™s mill site I pretty much struck out at. :P I talked briefly with another guy who found a couple large cents at the site. Maybe he missed some but so did I.

Nate and I did a quick trip to a middle school. I found a bunch of wheats and the 1923 Buffalo Nickel. :) Also dug some nice marbles investigating some iffy signals. Nate found a decent amount of clad and a silver rosie. The hunt at my momā€™s he schooled me. ::) I found some ā€œstuffā€ ā€“ ie junk. He found an 1865 IH and a Buffalo nickel. Oh well, I did school him at the ā€˜berg though. ;) All of the silver I found at the ā€˜berg. Two trips.

Some of the dirty stuff before cleaning:

The wheat pennies(found about 8 at the middle school). No exciting dates. Very few teens and twenties dates:

It was sweet to get another barber dime and a bunch of mercs. ;D ;D

Some of the other stuff included a decent silver ring.

Thatā€™s all. Good luck and enjoy the summer.

Bob,
Your post may have taken you 3 hours, but it was well worth it. ;D Some great finds guys. Love the IH, Mercs, and old mill relics. Send a few Mercs down this way. May gold find you this summer.
Congrats,
MM

Hey!

Wow, tons of great stuff....well, that's not saying much considering finding anything is great to me. But, nevertheless, it looks like you got some good finds (see, 'finds' it's kinda like a technical term!!) And as random as all the stuff in the last picture look, it seems like some of it is actually pretty cool. keep up the good work...lol

Nice finds, especially the barber! Hope the rest of the summer goes as well for you.

That is a great bunch of finds for sure, Congrats and WTG.

That is one hot spot. Did you find all that with the new Tejon?

Don't feel bad it took me 3 hours to find 34 coins, $1.93 today! Wow great finds and pictures :o

Thanks for the replies/compliments. I know I don't do that great of a write up but this post still took me a while to do(probably 3 hours).
BDoo - the silver ring was found at the 'berg. :) I think that makes #2 for the year. ::) :D

Shootist - We do make a more conscious effort to look for marbles. Sometimes you just see them laying on the surface. In the woods area we dig bigger holes with relic shovels so we tend to uncover more dirt than if we were in a park/private yard.

Nice looking wilver, dude. I like the 1900 dime, bud. :-*

How deep was the B-arber?

Keep up the great hunts!

Oh, if you would be so kind, send my humble regards to Dan. :)

Dude, the Barber was about 3 inches deep. Sounded more like a bottle cap or penny.

Regards will be sent.

great haul. Haven't seen you on here much lately? Always looking forward to see what you have found. HH

I'm with Gypsy in the summer - a little lazy. Also have to take a break from it all to keep things in proper perspective. Good luck in your hunts Redfoot.

No. I almost took the Tejon. I'm a little reluctant to use that machine because it is a rusty iron magnet. Also, it doesn't have the sunray probe which I have come to rely on.
