Not really sure what you are asking, They were minted from 1916 to 1930 the dates wear off because of the design with the date being on the higher part on the coin. In 1925 the date was recessed to correct the problem. Variety 2 (three stars below the eagle) was minted from 1917 to 1930. It was designed by Hermon A MacNeil.

I believe the OP wants to get the date from the dateless coin. I do not know how to do that with silver, only with Buffalos

Not much can be told beyond Type 1 or Type 2. There were no other changes to the design for the rest of the run. :dontknow:

What a beautiful coin. Shame all we have now are what my Dad used to describe as "Fathead Presidents".

I agree, our present day coinage is ugly, poorly minted, and cheap looking. Reminds me of most politicians.
