Hi everyone. Do you know what is fun and relaxing? Detecting a "normal" sports field after I've worked so hard in the iron-infested, muddy farm field that I've posted about recently.

A friend and I visited a place that used to be a "camp", but this one had college-like dorms and other real buildings, so it wasn't the kind of camp I was used to with tents and such.
My friend explained that there were some old sports fields that had become somewhat overgrown where we could detect; nearby were some tennis courts that apparently held tournaments for people in the area in the 1920's.

We detected for maybe 90 minutes, and he found a mercury dime and a silver Washington quarter.
Very quickly I found the mercury time I included below (1942), and then I proceed to find some wheat pennies and - to my surprise - five (5) nickels (all Jefferson). I've set up my Equinox Park 1 setting to include the 11-13 VDI range in hopes of finding nickels, but this was the first location where that actually paid off. ($0.25 in pay off, I guess).

My friend had to leave mid-morning but I stayed for a little longer, and under a partially fallen tree I got a solid 28-29 VDI signal and very loud. No scratchiness whatsoever (wow, that's a fantastic change from the Farm!). I knew it would be something good, and I was hoping for silver. I carefully revealed the coin in the plug, expecting a Washington quarter.
I was so happy to reveal the flying eagle on the reverse of this SLQ!
And I'm also very happy that the 1927 date is so visible - it's the first one I've found where the date is clear.

I called my friend and he hadn't even left where we had parked our cars, but he did need to leave so he didn't come back to see the SLQ. I sent him a picture.

Anyway, thanks for reading my story!

- Brian
