I played around in my yard trying to learn my Deus. When I decided to quit, I turned off the remote, turned off the headphones, and saved everything in their case. I place my Deus (coil and shafts)alongside the rest of my detectors and went about life as usual.

This morning I noticed the led on my Deus coil was blinking (a quick blink every 4 seconds). I checked the remote controller and the headphones....both were off.

Do I have a problem?....or is this normal? sometimes it goes to standby and sometimes it turns off? I don't think this is normal...but what are the rest of you folks experiencing with the coil after both headphones and remote are shut off?

The coil should be blinking in standby mode, so that you can see it is alive. The rapid blinking is when the coil is in operation mode.

hahaha its normal bud i actually thought the same thing when i first got mine i thought i was crazy and didnt know how to properly turn it off, glad to here ur getting the hang of the detector its a deep machine to have and ive noticed it makes alot of places come back alive again, im definetly glad i have the samson 18'' digger it makes those deep targets getting to them with ease good luck

Yup! It's in "stand by" mode. Mine is right behind me as I type this, blinking away like a strobe light on a radio tower!

Looks like I just got to know it a tiny bit better!

Thanks folks!!!!!

One thing that bothers me is during air travel if the security people see the standby blinking...what will they say/think?

My thought is to cover the led with black tape for travel...your thoughts?
