Hi all this is my first post here but a long time lurker . I found this button back in February out here on the east end of Long Island. After finding it i immediately put it in olive oil attempting to clean it without taking any of the crusted dirt off. I took it out of the oil and left it alone for a while as it dried out . Today i rediscovered it, and then toothpicked the dirt off and put it in lemon juice just to see what the backmark read. As i was cleaning around the shank with the toothpick i noticed the thread fibers still intact and a small amount of gilt. It reads " Standard Colour" with what appears to be a butterfly and a star on each end of the wording . I still cant believe the fiber survived on the shank this long. Anyone have any id/age on the button? Thanks
