First of all im still on cloud 9. Wow had hour to hunt after work and needed to get out. Well lately only luck ive had is bad, 1st my son 1 year old fell and broke leg (poor guy). Next day rain rain and more and sump pump just could not handle it. Well basement flooded out just after we completely finished it, all from new carpet to new walls. Well thats why i needed to get out, had about 1 hour or so before dark. So i went to a very hunted out site i was told, i found my first cellar hole. in center was huge piece of metal down a couple feet dug and dug, couldnt get out so covered back up. As i was backing up got stuck on some sticky bushes ouch well had a small signal as stuck. well kicked dirt away maybe 2 inches and lost signal,so out comes pinpointer scanning dirt just was getting small tick. started scooping dirt with my hand and out it fell. Thought was a dime but seen cross almost had a heart attack in middle of woods thought my luck i will. Well i made it out of woods when dark holding this coin in my hand the whole drive home. Not sure of date any info on this cob i would appreciate it. i have not let go of it yet..

Mark awesome cob man! Such an old find for our area. Nothing is ever hunted out! :icon_thumleft: That looks like a banner coin to me. :headbang:

Wow - hey congrats on that gorgeous cob! I found my first last summer - a Maravedis counterstruck cob - copper dating to about 1623, but yours is silver! Have some books on cobs and contacts that helped me Id my coin. Let me know if I can help!

BTW, found my first 1/2 Reale this summer (1779) and first 1 Reale a month ago (1764) - so I know the feeling you described! My cob and 1/2 Reale were only a couple inches deep too!

nice old silver :o :o :o :icon_thumleft: MR TUFF

That is a great old find man.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. That coin is a good sign though. came at a good time also.

Hey Dude, I am glad I was able to show you a good site. One hand washes the other  !!

Here is a better photo of your cob. According to the replies in the cob section you found a 1/2 real from the reign of Carlos II ((1665-1700)!!!!
