Here's the last batch for today from my England finds. I first found the large spur piece, then about an half hour later and 100 feet or so away, I found the little piece that fits the big piece perfectly! The hammered coin is a cut half of a 16th century Elizabeth I 3 pence from what the export docs say.

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Congratulations on your nice recoveries thanks for sharing

Hi. Nice finds Congrats:icon_thumleft:

sweet! very cool spur, fortunate to find both pieces

I see it's an Elizabeth I, legend states ELIZABETH [etc...] & with Rose behind Bust, so if its circa 19mm diameter it's a threepence.

I find loads of the small spur bits, rarely big broken bits, but you got it all except the iron rowel.

I thought I may have found that too, but, it turns out that it's a knife quillion instead. Here's a photo that includes 2 of those quillions, along with a Victorian era tap, crotal bell fragment, and a lead 1835 Russian bale seal.

Sorry but they are not quillion's, I tried years ago to correct Colchester's mistake. They are 18th C furniture fittings. The drop loop drawer pulls are fixed in those holes.

Totally ignore the ID error, but here is a picture of the types of pull that went with it:

So, it's really a handle or knob escutcheon then? That seems more likely to me too, but, that I.D. is what came with the export documents.

It's not more likely, its fact.
It's an 18th C drawer knob escutcheon. Like I say, seen them on the furniture.
Export documentation is only as good as the person filling it in. Colchester have repeated this mistake for years, & seem not to want to correct when I pointed it out.
I've filled out the export license applications myself, & know the process. They are checked but only for things they are looking to block or not leave the Country (ie. of National Historical Interest, or extremely rare), they are not interested in items from the 18th C incorrectly IDed. Not a reason to stop an export.
If it were a medieval dagger quillion, the responsible thing to do before exporting would be to get its PAS reference on the form. Is there a PAS reference for both 'quillions'? (Sorry, I think I know the answer, they only provide it for Treasure items, I assume, because of the time delay getting that done properly)
