"Spirit of St Louis" , first V nickel, IH and Pin

Wow so this probably has to be one of my best days. After recovering from a morning outing
http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,123604.0.html

I moved onto another location and did just as well. Found my first Liberty Head nickel, 1899. 1903 IH. Some strange pin with what looks like a tree on the front and a Dragon on the top. It says Dondero Inc, Washington DC on the back

Then I found this buckle? toward the end of the day. The wing has NX-211 on it. A quick Google search reveals that those were the numbers of Charles Lindbergh's plane the Spirit of St Louis. The numbers on the buckle are on the same side of the wing as the actual plane. Very good day indeed.

The strange little thing with the dragon and tree is an Army unit crest. Which unit I dont know off hand. Great buckle you got there.

Killer Spirit of St Louis medallion/buckle. Keep up the good work!

Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI)

Cool Finds!!! Your pin is the distinctive unit insignia (DUI) of the First Gas Regiment (A), which later became the 1st Chemical Regiment, who wore the same crest until deactivated, although it was never redesignated to them. The crest was authorized on 3 November, 1923 although the unit actually was formed during WW1, and rescinded on 27 February 1957. I found this info on a quick Google search.

Here's a pic of one in better shape:

Excellent finds there! That Lindbergh buckle deserves a run in the "What is it" thread. I know that some Lindbergh memorabilia is highly collectible. Lindbergh was the Neil Armstrong of the early 20th century--and attracted droves of followers wherever a landing was made. Here in Louisville 100,000 people turned out to watch.
