Spelter "Little Boy Blue"
I found something a little different from the typical finds I usually find the other day. I am calling him "Little Boy Blue" but of course maybe someone on this forum can shed some light on what it is and what he actually is called.
The figure looked like it was made of pewter or some kind of pot metal. My research has led me to believe that it is actually made of spelter (zinc).
I first found what I believe to be the base and at that time thought it might hold a candle. But after finding the figure next it made since that the figure sat upon the cup. It looks to me like it was held together by a rod that ran through the cup and screwed into the base of the figure.
If you notice there is a piece broke off the top of the base behind the figure. Maybe holding a smaller cup for a candle or your guess is as good as mine as to what it could have been. Hopefully I can find the missing piece my next trip to that spot.
One note is that I did find my first bust dime that was worn smooth near where I found these two pieces. Maybe from the earliest inhabitants of this site.
Any help ID'ing this piece and time frame it is from would be very appreciated!
Thanks!
