002.JPGI posted this initially in the what's it worth section and was told to post it here. We found these while moving dirt with our tractor. Looked down by the woodpile and found the small tips. With a little moving dirt with a garden rake the others were uncovered. Just looking for any information someone would be willing to share. They were found in Northeastern Wisconsin. We are just regular people who were out trying to find a new spot for our woodpile and stumbled on these. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Well...see you've been getting some great help from the guys on your super find.:icon_thumleft: Those are lovely & the pinkish color on the end is amazing! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Let's not neglect that killer Celt in the picture. I wouldn't tell my own mom if I found a spot like that.

Terrific finds!!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions and having them looked at by someone. I'd love to have them appraised and authenticated. I see when I search the internet there are a lot of authenticators out there, but how do you know who to trust? Your supposed to just put your things in the mail to someone? I don't know about that. Thanks,Penny

You might try an artifact show in your area. I don't know how close you may be, but there is a show at the Washington County Fair (Wisconsin) on Aug. 17 called the "Pleasant Valley Indian Artifact Show".....google it. People there should be able to give you good info along with many of the posters on this forum.

Awesome finds! If your in the Dells area stop into the antique mall south on US 12, one dealer has a case full of Hixton and info about it. Good luck finding more artifacts.

As some of the other posters have mentioned, it appears to be an Agate Basin made of Hixton Silicified Sandstone that outcrops only in Jackson County, Wisconsin. It appears to have a broken base which hurts the value significantly, but still a very nice find.

I will be attending the Pleasant Valley Show in Wisconsin and can introduce to other collectors who specialize in collecting Hixton Silicified Sandstone. There will also be an authenticator there who can do that, but it really doesn't require it. In regards to an appraisal or estimate, I can do that for you. I hope you can make it to the show and bring that piece and the others with. I would really like to see it.

If you're interested in more details please PM me and we can touch base.

Thanks,
Hippy (Jeff)

Thank you all for the great information. That was exactly what I was looking for. I did find another piece today, looks like a middle section. It is the same nice yellow color though. I can't wait to have someone look at them for us!!
