002.JPGI posted this initially in the what's it worth section and was told to post it here. We found these while moving dirt with our tractor. Looked down by the woodpile and found the small tips. With a little moving dirt with a garden rake the others were uncovered. Just looking for any information someone would be willing to share. They were found in Northeastern Wisconsin. We are just regular people who were out trying to find a new spot for our woodpile and stumbled on these. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

These people will help you. Wisconcsin Wow!! That spear head is a amazing! It appears that the base is snapped/broken. The rock above it looks like a scraper celt. The rest are brokes and debitage.

beautiful material.....the big one appears to be Paleo....very slender, and long.....almost looks like a reproduction.

Very nice find, very rare.

great first finds,impressive.

The first looks to be some type of paleo/plano complex lanceolet blade, possible made from silicified sandstone quartzite.
A fantastic piece too bad it's broke, the missing base will make it harder to type as well.

Looks like some other brokes and debitage in there as well.

If you were to dig that area some more, you would almost certainly find more artifacts.

Penny, that looks to be an Agate Basin made from Hixton Quartz and is a very valuable piece.

Grim beat me to it. KILLER piece, KILLER material, KILLER id!!! CONGRATS!!!!

Thank you for the information. We found these all within a 30 foot area. I am a nurse my husband is a welder. We are average people not knowing anything about these pieces other than what I have tried to discover on the internet. Should we keep digging for other pieces or contact our Historical Society? What kind of value are they worth? It is so surreal, my husband looked down and found the first piece, we looked the next day after a rainstorm and found 2 others. The larger 2 were found after I raked the area around a tree with a garden rake. We really don't know what we should do with them. There is a university in Wisconsin that has a web site that we tried to email a professor and didn't hear anything back. From looking online are they Clovis or Eden Points? What a weird weekend.

:hello: Welcome to Tnet!

:icon_thumleft: Those are some super finds, and I would suggest that you might want to a little more digging in the immediate area.
I am not wanting to contradict anyone, but my opinion is that your Mid Archaic point looks very much like Nebo Hill.

I agree with the reaper- agate basin- hixton or sugar quartz from Jackson county Wi. and a rare find. I hunt N.E. Wi. also- Winnebago, Outagamie and Calumet counties mostly- and have only found a few pieces of that material and only one was worked. Excellent find!

you're onto a potentially very cool and very valuable site. Whatever you do, take your time, surely there are more and good luck.

i would not get anyone else involved,no harm in picking them up on your property.could be many years of enjoyment for you.the best place for them is in a glass case at your house.just do not say where you are finding them

Thanks you all for the information. I for sure will keep looking. I have had more fun this weekend than in a long time!! I am definitely going to keep it to myself. Someday I might want to sell some if I collect enough for myself first. Again, thanks everyone for the information, this site is great!!

i want to add that if you take pictures make sure your gps is off on your phone

Yes! Take your time! See what else you can find. It is a thrilling, fascinating hobby!

Very nice material on those. As others have already said keep it a secret as to your finds.....family only. Some people will sneak into your property to try and find artifacts as you have found if they know what you have stumbled upon. Others may try to buy them from you but if you don't know the value they will try and cheat you. If a piece is perfect with no damage it could be worth allot of money. I sure wouldn't want to see these on ebay, rock

Does anyone have any suggestions and having them looked at by someone. I'd love to have them appraised and authenticated. I see when I search the internet there are a lot of authenticators out there, but how do you know who to trust? Your supposed to just put your things in the mail to someone? I don't know about that. Thanks,Penny

I see that you have them in a plastic bowl. I would wrap them with tissue or some other protective material to ensure they don't damage each other. Very nice finds!

Excellent finds. If you can locate spot again I would take a screen and see if you can find the base piece off of it.It appears broken in pic and not very much is missing.

Hello,
That has to be the prettiest example of Hixton material I have ever seen! In my collection it would be priceless broken or not and also not for sale. Do whatever you wish but if your interested in finding out more you could contact the University at La Crosse below. Congratulations and keep looking.
