What about a top piece on a metal fence. I do not know what they are called. is that what a fence fennel is ?

It resembles a tool (drift pin) to remove various chucks from milling machines and larger drill presses.
Yours may be too thick. It just reminds me of this item in one picture.

It almost looks like some kind of blade/dagger without the handle but I'm probably wrong. I think it's worth cleaning it up more to see what it reveals. It does resemble a fence topper too
