I still can't believe that I dug this, Spanish silver was definitely on my wish list but I never expected to get it in a front yard near the ditch. This is the same yard from my post a couple weeks ago with the indians and buckles. The first thing I dug was 2 indians stuck together turned out to be an 1864 and 1898 so I was pretty happy, next I got the cool suspender. I headed down towards the ditch line and got a solid dime signal and at about 8" out popped a 1902 barber, about 10' away another dime signal I'm thinking cool another barber but no I took a handfull of dirt from the hole and out popped what I thought was a piece of scrap until I took a close look at it :hello2: at this point I'm talking to myself, no way. It looks like a 3 on the bottom so I'm guessing 1773, some more info would be great IMAG0555.jpgIMAG0557.jpgIMAG0558.jpgIMAG0560.jpgIMAG0564.jpgIMAG0569.jpgIMAG0567.jpgIMAG0570.jpg

Nice group of finds. That Spanish is very cool. Still looking for mine!

Congrats on your first piece of Spanish Silver. That was a 1 real there (real not reale). I think it was cut by someone messing around rather than to make change.

Looks like the edge was perforated to make a tool or a charm (love token?) or something. All your finds are excellent!

Nice group of finds! You're finding some of my favorites, Barbers, Indians and of course, Spanish silver.

Great find! Odds are 1783 or 1793. Congrats!

Awesome find. Looks like a 1773 or 1783 Chas III 2 reales to me. Lima, Peru at that.

Thanks guys for all the great comments, I always figured if I found spanish silver it would be in a field hunt it sure was a surprise.

Very cool finds for sure, congrats on the silvers.

Sexy finds!! Way to go! You need to pound that property. If it beeps, get dirty! GL

Excellent finds! And congrats on the spanish silver. Awesome find!

You remind of something that many seem to forget. That there was something there BEFORE it was a school, church, yard, etc. Oh we have it in mind, but we tend to forget.

That ground was already speaking to you. Indian heads?

Remember to always keep an eye out for what used to be there. It'll change the way you hunt a modern day, brand new school yard. ;)

WTG!

"M" on reverse is Mexico, not peru.
The little "oil can" is cool too.

That is an interesting cut piece for sure. Would like to know the significance of the serrated edge. Now get out there and find the other half.

Nope, sorry. The Lima monogram is clear to see. The M you see is part of the monogram. This 1/2 a 2 reales is Lima, Peru without question. The monogram contains all 5 letters of the original 'LIMAE' spelling.
