Good Friday was good in more ways than one. I went back to one of my favorite sites this past Friday - a Colonial era spot here in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. The ground was nice and moist from recent rains and we had a full moon on the 23rd. Perfect timing and conditions. I've hit this site over and over again yet it always gives up a nice relic or two. On this trip I found my first Spanish silver and my oldest coin to date: a 1782 1 Reale. It retains a lot of detail. Also found a couple of Tombacs. (CW Bullet from an earlier hunt.)

Fantastic coin buddy. I love those nice dark dirty pics fresh from the ground. I wish more people would post those as I love to see the before and afters. My first two Spanish were 1782 so we have something in common. Very happy for you my friend

WTG Richard on scratching another coin from your wish list and the oldest one as well!!! Looking forward to hearing you on the American Digger Magazine Relic Roundup Show in May. HH, Q.

Thanks Ahab. I was totally shocked. Just did not expect to find that coin!

Thanks Quindy! Yeah, that one was on the bucket list for sure. What an unexpected surprise. You just never know what that next signal is going to bring. I'd not really found anything special in a while, so I knew I was due!

Thanks again Don.

Great hunt Valley Ranger  I really enjoyed your video and that is one good looking piece of Spanish Silver. Those tombacs make my heart race when you see the edge of them in the dirt... the look just like the edge of a real. I have been working a similar site where I cross over the same place dozens of times and then one day I get a great target. The Deus has been killing it lately for me.

Nice going. I've found a number of 2 reales and a bunch of 1/2's, but only one 1 real. Nice going and one more off the bucket list. How many times have you picked it up for another look since you found it :) Exciting find.

Ha! We all act alike, don't we?! Many, many times my friend. I think I've put another 100 years wear on it just holding it over the last few days. :laughing7:

Congrats on your first Spanish silver. There are many sites in the Shenandoah Valley that are hiding Spanish silver and King George coppers, so I expect you will find more Spanish silver and even older coins.

Thanks Steve. Yes, I believe you are correct. Lots of Colonial history in the Valley.
