The boy and I made a trip back to where I found the 1864 IH and 39 buffalo and the kid found the counter struck Large Cent.
We had one of those days today, I know I dream about. Big copper, little copper and a little Spanish silver to cap the day off.
The first few hours the same ole story, the kid was kicking my butt doing all the finding. He had a KG Half Penny and for every 3 flat buttons he'd find, I'd find one. This went on up until just before we planned on taking a break for some lunch. That's when I found a little silver coin smaller then a dime. Lol
Besides my little silver he had probably 6 flat buttons to my 2 and he had the KG Half Cent.
After lunch I made a little come back. I found a couple flat buttons then again he was finding some too. Then I found a KG Half Cent myself. A few more flat buttons for both of us then I find a Large Cent of my own,1818. It didn't last long, he finds a Draped Bust Half Cent, 1808.
It was my turn next first finding another Large Cent, 1810 then finding a Liberty Cap Half Cent, 1794.
All total we found 15 flat buttons, 7 coppers and a Silver Reale.

Wow you guys had a great day, all those buttons and the coins are phenomenal!!

You have yourself a nice early spot, I'd hammer that place!

Great day! That Lib Cap is a tough find. I wonder if there's any chance you could get a variety nailed down?

Now that is an awesome hunt. You 2 killed it! Nice buttons, coppers and a silver as icing. I bet you still haven't slept, have you?

Holy smokes! My eyes hurt from looking at this! You and the boy are killing it. Congrats.

Great hunt for coppers and the silver.

You and the boy had one heckuva hunt Deershed. That classic head LC is one of the nicest ones I've seen posted in a while. Hope you can get back to that site before the big freeze this weekend.

I dont know if you know? But that 1809 LC is a big key date..Rare..
Awsome hunt by the way..
George

Good call Georgie! A nice one indeed

It's hard to see much more then what you see in the pic. The boy got the pic I posted on site figuring we'd lose some detail before we got home.

Good call on that. You've obviously dealt with the big coppers drying out and losing detail.

Not much... Lol

Not sure if the boy knows that or not, I find and he tells me what I found. Lol He did say as soon as he saw my liberty that it was a good find. He got more excited over the liberty then the Reale.
I'll ask him if he knows, Thanks for the heads up!!

Great hunt! 7 Coppers and Spanish Silver=Dream day!! Super low mintage on the 1809 LC, 222,867 that is awesome great key date. Congrats to both of you.

USA Coinbook says there was only 81,600 1794 Liberty Cap Half Cents minted, between two variations. Talk about a day for finding Key Dates, WoW what a day you guys had!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice haul! put all of these items together in one pic, and it could be banner worthy. Seems like just as good of a hunt than the one that's up there now.

Wanted to do this last night, it was just too long a day.

Here's all the our finds together from yesterday's hunt.

I got two pewter spoon handles, some ornate piece of brass, 5 flat buttons, one KG Half Penny, two American Large Cents (1810,1818) one Liberty Cap Half Cent (1794) and A silver Reale 1960(?)
The boy's 10 flat buttons, a Classic Head Half Cent (1809) American Large Cent (1810) and a KG III Half Penny.
