Black Beard said:Hey Mike (Gollum),
What do you think they say?

I'm still not sure whether they are fakes or not.
If they are real, like I said in the thread, that trail map leads to the Southern face of Herman's Mountain. If you are not familiar with the mountain, it's on the North side of Upper LaBarge Canyon. I have superimposed the joined map over a pic saved from Google Earth, and over some topos. The end comes out the same every time. Herman's Mountain. This would NOT be the LDM, but like I said in the thread, the Peraltas had (I think) eight working gold mines in the Superstitions. This map could lead to a completely different mine (if it is real).
Since they were found in 1949, NOBODY has come forward to say that they were the person who found the stones. All we know is that the guy was a cop from Oregon on vacation. The guy died in 1956. Neither his name nor the exact location of the find has ever been given. He died before the stones were unveiled to the public (convenient). I think there are many reasons to think these stones are fakes, but those reasons aren't strong enough for me to bet on it! One thing that does get me is that the carver left the "R" out of Corazon. Normally when carving something like that, you draw what you are going to carve on the stone first, so you can make sure everything you want to carve will fit. After you get it just right, you begin chiseling.
