I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard JADEHELM! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

Looks more like Terracotta than stone.
I would say it's a decorative piece more than utilitarian.

Agreed, some kind of pottery, date unsure but not more than 200 years old.

It has before and after images of Ponce de Leon on it.

Must be the top spout from the Fountain of Youth...

The bottom looks very much like terra cotta. Its hard to put a hole like that in stone. IMHO

I'm pretty sure that's a picture of the top

If we could get a picture of the base it may tell us a little more.

Also in the picture of the top it looks like it may have a molding seam going over the handle on the right?

Obfuscation, misdirection, and withholding information is NOT the way to identify something.
This has been tossed around before.
All sensible explanations were ignored then, as is happening here.

The folks making claims and living in a fantasy world were unable to come up with any backup whatsoever.

You got something ? Let's hear it.

not stone, absolutely a fired clay. with out a doubt. All the evidence of the manufacturing process is there. can we get photos from the sides as well?

my town used to have a large terra cotta factory in it that made stuff that went all over the country in the 1800s. This is made from a similar clay for sure, and the details and style is indicative of terra cotta decoration for something. maybe roof finial or something

its a terra cotta(fired clay) victorian era ( mid /late 1800's) type water pitcher with a image of ponce de leon on it -- you your self state your town in the 1800's had a terra cotta industry --this is exactly the type of item they would have produced for export most likely --its exact use at the time what it was "for" who knows?

Good Morning JADEHELM. Provided you don't get banned for calling a fellow member an idiot...

A little more info, additional pics, and less attitude will probably get you better responses.

Oh, and cussing. You should probably stop cussing too.

No one is treating you poorly. I simply stated facts overwhelmingly pointing to one thing. Im an artist that works with many materials, including clay. I can for sure tell you that this thing isn't stone. How can I tell? well being familiar with the manufacturing processes in clay, I can see marks and dents that make it impossible to be stone. As well as marks that are common for the ceramic process. Not only that but the material itself visually screams clay. Funny thing is my buddy is a stone and metal artist, and I have worked stone as well. No stone looks like that after its carved and worked. You come at us saying you are no puppy at this, well I am no puppy on how things are made, and have been creating and making my whole life. On top of that I have been all over the world to museums and have seen many many works of art in different mediums. This is TERRA COTTA WITH OUT A DOUBT, my town is littered with examples of stuff like this and i know it when I see it. You are doing yourself no favors by not listening to others most likely more qualified than you, who are just trying to help you by the way.
