Great find!!!!Dig some holes and stay off the phone.

congrats on the awesome find

I have been sick and out of wack... for 2 days. Cannot see with this screen anyway....I cannot stare again.

great find regardless...
Congrats.

You've got a 1680s or 1690s Lima Peru 1 reale. Congrats. I have found several from Potosi but none from Lima. What i thought was a 7 was actually an R on its right side.

very nice !
gives me hope !

Nice going man! In your original post, your cob looks silver, but in the others is has that white lead look to it. I assume that's just the lighting. Gotta be some more nice coins in that spot. Good luck!

Congrats on your oldest coin bud. Great feeling. My 1600s cob came with a friend lol

Ok this very old cob is way too cool to just slide down the page and fade away. It's a fantastic find and one that lots of people will never find. That site is a damn good one

Cobs are not often found up in New England, especially in the larger denominations. It's usually the guys who concentrate solely on colonial-period sites. Not necessarily banner material I believe unless you find a 4 or 8 reales cob. You've got a great coin, so just go with it. If you looking for a banner just get back to that field; there's probably an even greater find out there! :headbang:

To find that Cob on a site where you also found your Queen Lizzie I sixpence - that is an impressive early site !!!

I'd call a real good looking 2 reales cob a banner find. 4 and 8 dug in the US or Canada a no brainer. That coming from someone who has a 1 real cob banner find. :) ....but like you said, and I totally agree, the standard is higher now and just taking a quick look up top it's obvious!
