I set out at 6:00AM on Sunday morning. Watched a beautiful sunrise at 80MPH.

I went to meet P@tch for one of his, guaranteed to find silver hunts. He did not disappoint. I found a lot of trash and a pile of clad. here is a picture of the good stuff:

Aluminum token, hem weight, marble... and two, what I consider, nice finds.

I dug this token, thought nothing of it at the time, and proceeded on. I cleaned it up and was amazed to find a Cotton States & International Expo token from 1895! Here is the link, if you are interested in the history of The South, it's a good read.

Now, the really good piece! As soon as I saw, I knew it was not the usual jar lid, it just had that look to it.

A quick wipe revealed... a monogram! It's a silver napkin ring.

It has an eagle, R in a shield and lion. I believe it was made by Reed & Barton in Mass. If you can decode this makers mark, please let me know.

I really like this kind of stuff, silver, old, personalized... lost by rich people...

Victorian graffiti!

I have to say 'thanks' to P@tch for taking me hunting, despite the fact that BOTH of my good finds were hit by lawnmowers!

Thanks for looking and best of luck on your hunts.

WOW! Love the token! Are you going to straighten the napkin ring?

I doubt that I will straighten it. I have a way of breaking things that I try to fix, and getting all mad about it.

I like my stuff well worn and a bit janky.... just like ME!

My family came to NC in 1721, we are very proud and Southern. I was thrilled to see a token from a truly Southern event, especially a 100+ year old one. I was so sure that token was junk, I put it in the pouch and didn't give it another thought. When I got home and cleaned it and saw that eagle and the 1865 date on it, I was shocked.

NICE FINDS AND HISTORY.

Nice finds, I found a 1884 cotton expo token from New Orleans several years ago

Nice napkin Ring, looks late 19th century. Very nice buddy

Tom that silver napkin ring is a real beauty! Something about the look of monogrammed silver that gets me every single time. Great job bud

Great finds tom! That napkin ring is crazy cool.. I like the token also.

Congratualtions on the nice finds! :occasion14:
