I set out at 6:00AM on Sunday morning. Watched a beautiful sunrise at 80MPH.

I went to meet P@tch for one of his, guaranteed to find silver hunts. He did not disappoint. I found a lot of trash and a pile of clad. here is a picture of the good stuff:

Aluminum token, hem weight, marble... and two, what I consider, nice finds.

I dug this token, thought nothing of it at the time, and proceeded on. I cleaned it up and was amazed to find a Cotton States & International Expo token from 1895! Here is the link, if you are interested in the history of The South, it's a good read.

Now, the really good piece! As soon as I saw, I knew it was not the usual jar lid, it just had that look to it.

IMG_20170924_073529_016.jpg

A quick wipe revealed... a monogram! It's a silver napkin ring.

IMG_20170924_074125_479.jpg

It has an eagle, R in a shield and lion. I believe it was made by Reed & Barton in Mass. If you can decode this makers mark, please let me know.

I really like this kind of stuff, silver, old, personalized... lost by rich people...

Victorian graffiti!

I have to say 'thanks' to P@tch for taking me hunting, despite the fact that BOTH of my good finds were hit by lawnmowers!

Thanks for looking and best of luck on your hunts.

Really really great finds, you have a great friend! Great tokens and silver!!!!! I would go back!!! I learned my lead stoppers are hem weights:)

Great looking silver relic Tom. Congrats
I don't think it's been nailed by a mower, just stepped on by a big two or four legged creature. It's one find that would be easily straightened if so desired.

Nice post, Tom.. Good digs

Great finds!! LOVE the Old Silver, Highly Awesome!

Way to go Tom-that silver napkin ring is sweet. You should heat it with a hair dryer and carefully (with gloved hands) bend it back to its original shape, or at least as close as you can get it. :icon_thumleft:

Tom, I love the napkin ring,..not to the point of wanting to marry it, but I love it. What an awesome find! Sub :laughing7:

Like you, I wouldn't marry it, but I did sleep with it last night. Best of luck to you sir!
