Very very nice. For those that aren't aware of this medal - The Southern Cross of Honor was a postbellum honor presented by the United Daughters of the Confederacy to members of the United Confederate Veterans. Also, while you are searching for information about the owner - take a look at: Search For Soldiers (Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System contains just an index of the men who served in the Civil War) sponsored by the National Park Service.
 

Very nice Southern Cross. My Great Great Grandfather was a recipient of one of these crosses. He served in the 44th Ga. Volunteer Infantry Co. D Army of Northern Virginia. Best of Luck to you in researching the soldiers service. :icon_thumleft:
