South Padre Coins?

???
Went out detecting last month. found aluminum can after can! Only thing i found was a 1,000 older type mexican peso. Found that by just walking in the dunes at the manfield cut. If anyone going out in jan or feb keep me posted. i live about an hours drive from south padre island. I go out there alot, but mostly to go fishing. Haven't had time to go TH'ing. Also just came back from Mexico. Went out for a couple days. Stayed close to an old Hacienda. People who own in now didnt grant permission to go detecting. There are rumors that there is loot withing the mud brick walls. Kinda upset about that. Hit up some other rumored spots where there have been tales of buried treasure. Not one hit on my detector. Oh well, there is always next time.

Be careful - I know some of that is off limits to detecting and if caught - you'll get a free ride to jail and won't even pass go!

A little late to be sending this since your original post was in august, but here is my experience from a recent trip to North Padre. Find the nearest MD dealer and call for tips on areas to hunt/avoid. If there is a campground in the area ask them as well. As I understand it, State parks are off limits in Texas, but in the Corpus Christi area, county and city parks are legal to hunt. The White's dealer in CC and the County manager of the campground were very helpful in telling me where to hunt and not hunt. I also will put in a plug for the CC police. They patrol the city beaches on Padre and were extremely friendly and helpful in telling me where the majority of folks congregate in the winter time.

Thanks waseeker. i have asked local poice that patrol south padre and as far as this fellow was concerned he stated whatever i find i can keep. But i will look around and see if i can find a place to get info on where i can look for some stuff. thanks again
