Not much hunting going on around here. It's either been raining and the weeds growing like...well..weeds or it's just been too hot. :P Did manage to get out a couple of times over the past few weeks. First site was a spot we weren't expecting to get to hunt. Turns out our information on an owner of a piece of land was wrong, but the lady was super nice and invited us to hunt her property. There is a 180 year old magnolia tree here. I've never seen one as big as this. Kept backing up and still couldn't get it all in the photo.....
It was like a big canopy underneath...no problem standing in there and admiring the size of this tree..
We didn't find much there, just a couple of wheat cents, couple of tax tokens (of which I offered to the owner) and this round thing...don't know what it is/was? Probably not worth a mention, but thought someone might see something here..
After spending a little time there, we found out from the owner where the folks lived that we were actually looking for. We headed over there for permission. Permission granted, but nothing there. After talking with a deer hunter a couple of days later, Lisa found out that somewhere in the area he had come across some old bricks on further up the hill.
Well Monday we headed back to the cabin site. Lisa had rode by and saw new dirt, so we had to check that out!
Doodled around and found a few snaps and another Excelsior button. Third one found there.
When we first arrived, no one was there working the machinery. I walked up and saw this purdy blue bottle just laying on top of the dirt. Now if you live around here, this bottle is like the prize of prizes to own! I was almost the happiest gal in Alabama! Till I realized the top was broken off.
I wrapped it up so that I wouldn't cut my hand...
Even still with it being broken, I was excited to have found at least this much of it.
After a little bit, we headed back to the site from last week with new the information of the old bricks. The area he told about hadn't been cut and the hay was knee high. We walked around a bit all the while being weary of stepping on a snake or two. We decided to wait and cover this area later when it's been cut.
Stopped by an old place on the way home and snapped this pic....so nice to see the fields being cut.
I am looking forward to fall!
