Anyone have any idea what this is? I was excited when it saw it in the plug, but took it out and I wasn't sure what it was. It has good color and good weight to it. My gut says it has something to do with a button, but I'm not sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks - Dan

Yes, it is part of a button... specifically, the "back" portion of a 2-piece metal button. (The loop for sewing the button onto clothing is not counted as a "piece".) Yours appears to have had an iron/steel thread-loop, which has mostly rusted away. See the diagram below which shows the "construction" of 1-piece, 2-piece, and 3-piece buttons.
