Have you tried researching that auto association? You might could narrow down the years of operation and possibly see a record of their auto hardware.
Worth trying. Good luck.

Plate topper huh?
Nice calls MM And Iron Spike.
Also nice find Mike 4-H but yours looks more like copper than my more modern find.
Thanks for the ID`s and i think we should start a NC museum for all to see

Bill,

What are the measurements of your topper? Is it smaller than the one Mike found?

I don`t know, is it mike?

Mine is not magnetic and measures 5-5/8 x 3-7/8 inches.

I`m still a little confused because mine has no means of attachment. IE no holes or rivets.

Shortstack I searched for over an hour changing the verbage on each search. Thanks for looking.

Judging from the penny they appear to be about same size. Reason I asked is that my friend found one the weekend after Mike posted his topper (this friend is not imaginary and will very soon be joining Tnet ;D). The one he found seemed smaller than these and also has different design. It didn't have the holes/rivets either and we were thinking maybe it was attached with adhesive and is a later date topper.

Can`t wait to see it Iron Spike.
This link creskol provided puts it`s date at 1938-1946. I`m guessing
