I have tried everything I have read on the internet and nothing seems to help clean this. Any ideas? Thank you! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1535245188.217230.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1535245234.929040.jpg

PLEASE do NOT use muratic acid on that cluster, it will ruin it! Prospectors use muratic acid to free gold trapped in quartz at times, BECAUSE it eats away quartz! I do not suggest doing this to that nice cluster!!!!

I have used 30+% Muratic and never had it eat away my quartz. I think you need hydrofluoric acid for that.

That is my bad. I was thinking that Muratic acid's componet was hydrofluoric acid. I got it confused with hydrochloric acid. So I admit I am incorrect, however I still would not use muratic acid on any of my specimens. That is just my preference! Sorry for any confusion I may have caused!

I guess we could take the time and clear up any confusion:

Hydrochloric and Muratic acid are the same; hydrogen and Chlorine. (HCl)
Good for mineral ID at a 10% concentration and for etching off calcite of specimens.
Some use it to clean gold on quartz.

Hydroflouric is hydrogen and flourine. (HF)
I recommend the layman to keep his hands of this stuff.

Notice the minor difference: Flouric vs Chloric. makes a huge difference in the chemical you get.:laughing7:
