This was found some time ago. All evidence points to Poland, but I really need a few opinions to help my conclusion. This was found in Hocking County Ohio (South Bloomingville) I hope this is not a replica of some sort, it was found at a elementary school. It is very light in weight but has a nice silver ring. Any ideas?

I'm not certain, but the bird does look like the 'Polish Falcon' .
Polish Eagle - if so.... ::) ;D
It seems to have a Polish root, but The Eagle (Tubecity, :wink: ) looks like a "happy creation of a maker".
Is not similar to The Eagles I know as a Pole. Especially Eagle's crown.... ;D

Let me see properly the other side, Sniffy. Maybe I can help. :dontknow:

Pozdrawiam

Unfortunately, I do not have the coin. It belongs to my friend back in Ohio. I'll request that he takes another picture. The front of the coin has a lady figure facing left. No date.

I would ask your friend to see if he thinks it is a coin. If it is, it must have been shaved around the edges. It should have some markings as to denomonation, and date. It could be from a German state. The eagle looks similar to Polish and German coins.

It may be silver; looks like aluminum. Either way it appears to be a recently lost item with no corrosion. What size is it?

Alloy means a percentage of silver and a percentage of something else. Almost all modern silver is alloyed with something else. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sterling_silver
Fine silver (99.9% pure) is generally too soft for producing large functional objects; therefore, the silver is usually alloyed with copper to give it strength, while at the same time preserving the ductility and beauty of the precious metal.

Metallurgy! I wonder how old this necklace is. Germans and Polish began immigrating to Hocking County, Ohio in the late 1800's I believe. The Elementary school where this was found was built in the early 1900's. Several wheat pennies and other relics have been dug from this location. I can only hope that this was carried over the big pond.

the woman on the thing appears to be a queen. I suspect this would help with an id and time period it came from.
If it is Maria Leszczynska the Princess of Poland, Queen of France and wife of Louis XV. It could be an early item.
More likley queen Victoria.

In other words this is a commemorative item of the queen that is on the other side from the bird.

I could be wrong but found at an elementary school, no corrosion; it may be from a zipper pull. It has the look of aluminum and the face may be generic.

What is the size? I cant find it.
