I tried for some better pics of that area with better color balance. I circled the areas on both sides that appear to have been mashed in a vise or pliers, likely while drilling the holes.

now you post pics of it from a more defined view....jeez...it has is will always be a homemade lead whistle as some have said already.... ::) those marks...teeth
