✅ SOLVED Some Sort Of Buckle?

I've never found one of these so maybe somebody here can let me know what it is. My guess is some sort of buckle, maybe for a horse or something? Thanks in advance.

It is a version of buckle used mostly (but not only) on horseharness, called a Conway buckle. That type shows up in horsegear catalogs from the late-1800s to the present. Not seen in civil war era catalogs.
