Some Said It Would Happen...........

Cool... I feel like I roll on dubs when I use that nickname... in reality I roll on 15" Yokos in my 01' Elantra GT but hey, just wait until next year... just gotta keep working on convincing my wife though.

Forgot to say that lock you found is by far the coolest lock I've EVER seen dug, or non-dug for that matter.

"Did you check out the wooded area on the 10 acre parcel? Pretty surreal with all the rows of trees. Would look awesome at first light with some fog rolling through."

That's where I spent most of my time and found the RIO's (rusty iron objects) Could not locate enough of a concentration to indicate a homesite. Also located a very twisted and gnarled woodsite, about a square acre that held some bits and pieces that called to mind some kind of explosive fragmentation. Very Blair Witch.

There's some excellent large spiked trees there, one of which got me in the finger and it's apeared to be a little hemotoxic. Growing new hair and feeling attracted to the next full moon all of a sudden. There's also at least one deer spread over about two of those acres, femur here, vertebrae there, rib cage somewhere else. Seems like a great place to go messin' with sasquatch!

Opened the tin I found, seems all the smokes were gone.

your into the good stuff now

Update on the lock: I can now close the lock all the way but the latch isn't catching on the indent. It will hold closed slightly but with a little force it pops open. Think maybe I need to pick it from the key side to see if I can free up the lock mechanism. Almost there.

Nice Merc Dan, I knew you would find that silver

Thanks Pat. I wanted to make it to the meeting on Monday, but got called into the dealership with some network issue in the shop. Next month.

That is the 3rd conversation I have had in a week that Sasquatch has come up. What with that?

To bad the smokes were gone. Doesn't tobacco age like a fine wine.? Errr, maybe not....

Sunday?

so close to unreal -- 1 year earlier the 1916 D is a "motherlode" coin --- great find still

Wow! Just looked up the 1916D in coin book I have and your right. $850 for a G-4. That was back in 2006 but I am sure it still up there. That would have been sweet...

There are several online connections to locksmiths who can refurbish old locks like the one you found and supply keys, thinking about doing that to a couple of mine that are in likewise excellent shape for their age. Yep, you hit that old trail again and clear it out, I'm gonna go for that old homesite again. Did you notice if your hotspot was on the trail to the old hunting cabin or along some other associated path?

From the 38 Aerials and the most likely innacurate GPS coordinates off my phone, it would put the location right along a tree line. To the South of the location was a small open field that led to the small creek that runs through.

I'll help you look for the homestead a little bit, but if the woods aren't too bad yet, I might go back to that location.

Thanks for the locksmith tip.
