duh...duh... DFX
I've been getting out here and there and scoring quite a lot of silver the last month or so. Seems like one here one there though. Most every spot has produced something, but while they keep adding up, no real killer days and these are all pretty common silvers (still a thrill to see that white shine in the soil). So rather than showing a pic of single dimes, etc, I'll show a few pics of the ones that got me more excited.

First off...I have been having DFX troubles lately, with the headphone jack shorting out. What a pain in the ass. Taking it down to repair it I found out that the jack body itself is a plastic POS and the threads stripped on the body, allowing the jack to wobble and breaking a soldered connection. Added a few washers to get the nut on decent threads, resoldered the broken connections and we're good to go.
The guts exposed on the DFX. Look at the almighty Motorola main chip. You'd think that maybe the manufacturers could have designed something by now to make use of a P4 or better??

About a week ago I got a great hit and around 6-7" pulled my first multiple silver in a while. A Wash, Merc and early Rosie snuggled together.

Love that sight in the bottom of the hole!

Now that's a threesome

So this past Saturday I met Bob (Mirage) and Nate at the 'Berg and we did a nice long hunt. Weather was PERFECT...sunny and cool in the 60's. Nice change from sweat. Mosquitos were terrible though so constant baths in DEET were in order. Still though it barely stopped 'em. At one point I was on one knee retrieving a wheatie when Bob walked up and surprised me (he loves doing that) and I noticed a dime sized welt right under his eye and on his other cheek. They got him good!
I ended up with 4 silver. 56 Wash, 29 and 36 Mercs and a 64 Rosie. All but the Rosie were badly tarnished, but hey...love that sound. I got these working an area at the Berg I have barely touched, which was nice as it may mean there are some hot spots yet to be found.
Here's the Wash fresh from the hole

That's it for now. While I am still having a blast doing this kind of hunting, I really long for more trips back into the past...beyond the age of Mercs. I think my next free weekend I'll head back and do an all-dayer with Bob at that Stagecoach stop...

HH all

Way to go, Dan. Silver is nice.
You sure you want to face that hike into the Stagecoach stop? I guess you can drive most of the way, now.

My DFX headphone jack/plug is doing something like that. I have to pull it out half way to get it to work. It may be my headphones, too.

Trust me Kas...it ain't yer headphones...Nothing much to go wrong with with a stereo (or mono for that matter..even simpler) jack. I'll let you know if I find a good quality replacement that fits well.

K Thanks.

This hobby is wonderful! Still after 30 years of hunting....I started at 14.... the sight of silver at the bottom of a 7" to 8" hole is a feeling I can't explain. It still does the same thing to me after all this time.

Sweet finds, way to go on the silver!

Nice finds, Dan!

Enjoyed the pics, too.

Glad to see you decided to stay and post.

Thanks for sharing.

I never really left Paul...I was (and still sometimes am) just put off at times with some folks. Like I had said earlier, I would not let that in any way keep me from enjoying this great hobby. As I downloaded my camera this morning to look at some video clips of my son's pitching workout last week (working on a new pitch) I saw these photos and thought they looked good...and figured some here would like 'em. Hard to post photos w/out some type of brief explaination (at the very least!)

That's cool, Dan.

Thanks for the reply.

Dan,
I think the mosquitoes were gaurding the silver! Wow, they have been bad lately. Not too bad a hunt but I am really starting to want to hunt the older sites more exclusively. Unless of coarse it's easy pickins.
